Scholarship Criteria for New Candidates
The North Country Garden Club is pleased to grant annually a one-time scholarship in the memory of member Virginia W. Smith. The $2,500 scholarship is awarded to a local student in the twelfth grade who has maintained satisfactory grades and who has a desire to further his/her interest in horticulture, conservation, environmental, sustainability or green initiatives through college-level study.
In order to be considered, the student must complete and submit the application with the required transcript, essay and letters of recommendation by June 1, 2025. A personal interview is required and will be conducted by Zoom on June 7th. The award will be announced by July 1st.
The scholarship will be used towards tuition and/or educational support.

The mission of The North Country Garden Club is to promote the knowledge of gardening; to encourage the conservation of natural resources; to aid and support education in the fields of gardening, horticulture, conservation, and natural sciences; to stimulate community interest in the improvement and beautification of public buildings and their surroundings, parks, roadsides, wildlife sanctuaries, and other civic projects; to give financial and other assistance to the furtherance of such projects and to make contributions to educational, scientific and charitable organizations for purposes related to the objects of this organization.
